John 1:1-14 reads, “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God...All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made. In him was life; and the life was the light of men...He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not...But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God...Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God. And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father), full of grace and truth.”

Genesis 1:1 says, “In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.”

Matthew 5:17-19 reads, “Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfill. For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled. Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.”

Luke 2:23-24 says, “As it is written in the law of the Lord, Every male that openeth the womb shall be called holy to the Lord; And to offer a sacrifice according to that which is said in the law of the Lord, A pair of turtledoves, or two young pigeons.”

Jesus said in Matthew 5:27-29, “Ye have heard that it was said by them of old time, Thou shalt not commit adultery: But I say unto you, That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart. And if thy right eye offend thee, pluck it out, and cast it from thee: for it is profitable for thee that one of thy members should perish, and not that thy whole body should be cast into hell.”

Jesus is not doing away with the Word, His ways, character or the laws of God. Rather, He is saying you must be born again--your heart must change. I have come to make you clearly understand the meaning and definition of the law so it is rightly divided. In the preceding scripture, Jesus is not telling people to pluck out their eyes; He is saying it is a heart issue. The Lord is saying, “...I will put my law in their inward parts, and write it in their hearts; and will be their God, and they shall be my people.” (Jeremiah 31:31-33; 2 Corinthians 3:3)

Most people do not understand the Scriptures nor do they studiously examine them. They mindlessly misinterpret and take Scriptures out of context and then blame the Holy Spirit for their understanding of the Scriptures when their misunderstanding is not the fault of the Holy Spirit, but a lack of study. They neglect the five-fold gifts of ministry for teaching where their study is incomplete due to lack of effort or time lived for preparation.

Matthew 22:36-40 says, “Master, which is the great commandment in the law? Jesus said unto him, ‘Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.’” Why? Because if one will obey these two then he will not break the other rules of behavior regarding God and people, for all offenses come from disobeying one of these two commandments.

For these reasons Jesus said in Matthew 23:23, “Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For ye pay tithe of mint and anise and cumin, and have omitted the weightier matters of the law, judgment, mercy and faith: these ought ye to have done, and not to leave the other undone.”

The grace of God is the living Word (Jesus), or the laws of God, as the following Scriptures admonish: Acts 28:23-26, “And when they had appointed him a day; there came many to him into his lodging; to whom he expounded and testified the kingdom of God, persuading them concerning Jesus, both out of the law of Moses, and out of the prophets, from morning till evening...”

Romans 2:12-16, 21-29,For as many as have sinned without law shall also perish without law: and as many as have sinned in the law shall be judged by the law; (For not the hearers of the law are just before God, but the doers of the law shall be justified. For when the Gentiles, which have not the law, do by nature the things contained in the law, these, having not the law, are a law unto themselves: Which shew the work of the law written in their hearts, their conscience also bearing witness, and their thoughts the mean while accusing or else excusing one another;) In the day when God shall judge the secrets of men by Jesus Christ according to my gospel. Thou therefore which teachest another, teachest thou not thyself? Thou that preachest a man should not steal, dost thou steal? Thou that sayest a man should not commit adultery, dost thou commit adultery? Thou that abhorrest idols, dost thou commit sacrilege? Thou that makest thy boast of the law, through breaking the law dishonest thou God? For the name of God is blasphemed among the Gentiles through you, as it is written. For circumcision verily profiteth, if thou keep the law: but if thou be a breaker of the law, thy circumcision is made uncircumcision. Therefore, if the uncircumcision keep the righteousness of the law, shall not his uncircumcision be counted for circumcision? And shall not uncircumcision which is by nature, if it fulfill the law, judge thee, who by the letter and circumcision dost transgress the law? For he is not a Jew, which is one outwardly; neither is that circumcision, which is outward in the flesh: But he is a Jew, which is one inwardly; and circumcision is that of the heart, in the spirit, and not in the letter; whose praise is not of men, but of God.”

Romans 7:12-14, “Wherefore the law is holy, and the commandment holy, and just, and good. Was then that which is good made death unto me? God forbid. But sin, that it might appear sin, working death in me by that which is good; that sin by the commandment might become exceeding sinful. For we know that the law is spiritual: but I am carnal, sold under sin.”

James 2:8-17, “If ye fulfill the royal law according to the scripture, ‘Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself,’ ye do well: But if ye have respect to persons, ye commit sin and are convinced of the law as transgressors. For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all. For he that said, ‘Do not commit adultery,’ said also, ‘Do not kill.’ Now if thou commit no adultery, yet if thou kill, thou art become a transgressor of the law. So speak ye, and so do, as they that shall be judged by the law of liberty. For he shall have judgment without mercy, that hath shown no mercy, and mercy rejoiceth against judgment. What doth it profit, my brethren, though a man say he hath faith, and have not works? Can faith save him? If a brother or sister be naked, and destitute of daily food, And one of you say unto them, ‘Depart in peace, be ye warmed and filled.’ Notwithstanding ye give them not those things which are needful to the body; what doth it profit? Even so faith, if it hath not works is dead, being alone. Yea, a man may say, ‘Thou hast faith, and I have works.’ Shew me thy faith without thy works, and I will shew thee my faith by my works.”

James 4:11, “Speak not evil one of another, brethren. He that speaketh evil of his brother, and judgeth his brother, speaketh evil of the law, and judgeth the law: but if thou judge the law, thou art not a doer of the law, but a judge.”

1 John 3:4-8, “Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law, for sin is the transgression of the law. And ye know that he was manifested to take away our sins; and in him is no sin. Whosoever abideth in him sinneth not: whosoever sinneth hath not seen him, neither known him. Little children, let no man deceive you: he that doeth righteousness is righteous, even as he is righteous. He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil.”

People today are so ignorant of the truth concerning the laws (Word) of God. Many people seem opposed to the laws of God saying, “it is not for today.” Ladies and gentlemen, the laws of God, the Word of God, is for yesterday, today and forever.

Why is there so much confusion and hostility towards the Word or laws of God? The answer is so very simple. First and foremost, most people are naive concerning the Scriptures since they do not follow the Biblical exhortation of 2 Timothy 2:15 to be students of the Scripture. They believe what they have been taught by the religious system as the masses did when Jesus walked the earth. Other people simply do not want to follow the Lord or to please God. They, like the Pharisees, want to find ways around obeying the Word of God. As I have shown above through the Scriptures themselves, the Word of God (the laws of God) is good, holy, pure, spiritual and eternal. The Word and laws of God created the universe and provide the foundation of every good thing including security, peace and our salvation.

The Word of God, which created the world and all therein, spoke the laws of God into existence for His creation. The Word or laws of God reflect the grace of God and is the grace of God. The grace of God is instituted in the Word (or laws) of God from the beginning (Genesis). It was by grace that the laws of God were spoken by God so that man may be able to live in order and peace. Moreover, this grace was again executed through the obedience of God through Jesus which made a way of forgiveness for man’s transgressions. This is necessarily true provided man meets God’s conditions: repentance through Christ. This is God’s way for salvation.

The grace of God is God’s way versus man’s ways. It is righteousness (God’s way) versus selfishness and rebellion (which is man’s way). It is by the grace of God that the Word was spoken into existence so man would have the ability and opportunity to live in peace, security, good health, and eternal life.

To live in heaven Lucifer had to obey the Word and/or laws of God (grace) to prevent chaos, rebellion, selfishness, poverty, murder and death. Salvation is a free gift. In other words, nothing a person can do by their own efforts can purchase their eternal life. God Himself had to give man eternal life and He did it by grace through His Word for us to escape judgment and eternal death. He gave His conditions for eternal life. Only He Himself can forgive and give us eternal life. Thus, He gave His conditions as a gift which was through Himself (Jesus) dying on the cross so the shedding of His blood--which is blameless, pure and divine--could cover our sins. Sin brings death, yet God is the author of life, and He gave His life by the shedding of His blood for all. Therefore, real life/eternal life is through the blood and can only be given by Christ Himself. God gave us eternal life through His blood so if we accept God’s conditions as in the garden we can have eternal life again and live in heaven. To reject God’s conditions for eternal life, as Adam did in the garden and as Lucifer did in heaven, necessarily disqualifies us from the blessings of God and eternal life through Christ Jesus.

God, through the grace of His Word, gave His conditions and laws for life, health, peace and eternal life. Jesus said the law was good and perfect and He came not to destroy it but to fulfill it. He came to make it complete since He had to die for the remission of ours sins to give us eternal life as the Word/law foretold that He would do.

Jesus was not opposed to the laws of God or He would have been opposed to Himself. He was against the laws made up by men who wanted to circumvent the true laws of God. He was against men making up their own laws to control and lead the people instead of the laws of God which allows people to follow the Lord and be set free.

Des Griffin, in his book, Anti-Semitism and the Babylonian Connection, states: “Judaism, both in its present form and as it has existed since before the time of Christ, is violently opposed to the God of the Bible...The study of Judaism is that of the Talmud, as the study of the Talmud is that of Judaism, as the two are inseparable things, or better, they are the one and the same...Accordingly, the Talmud is the completest expression of religious movement, and this code of endless prescriptions and minute ceremonials represents it its perfection the total work of the religious idea...The Talmud, in turn, is composed of two distinct parts, the Mishna and the Gemara; the former the text, the latter the commentary upon the text...By the term Mishna we designate a collection of decisions and traditional laws, embracing all departments of legislation; civil and religious...This code...is the result of several generations of Rabbis...” (Talmud, by Arsene Darmesteter, translated by Henrietta Szold. Quoted in Facts Are Facts, pp. 63, 64).

“The Jewish religion as it is today traces its descent without a break through all the centuries from the Pharisees. Their leading ideas and methods found expression in a literature of enormous extent, of which a great deal is still in existence. The Talmud is the largest and most important single piece of literature...and the study of it is essential for any real understanding of Pharisaism...’ (Universal Jewish Encyclopedia, article on Pharisaism, p. 474).

“Pharisees? Pharisaism? One can search the Old Testament from Genesis to Malachi without encountering either word. Yet, 400 years later, when we come to the New Testament we find a Pharisee under every bed and lurking around every corner. Why? The answer is another fascinating lesson in the vagaries of human nature. It is a perfect example of the fact that ‘the heart is deceitful above all things and desperately wicked; who can know it’ (Jeremiah 17:9). It also demonstrates the fact that all the ways of man are ‘right in his own eyes’ (Proverbs 21:2). Following the conquest of Jerusalem in 597 B.C., and in what has become know as the Babylonian Capacity, the people of the tribe of Judah (Judahites) found themselves in a hostile environment, without their beloved Temple and all the rituals that went along with it. In an effort to protect their religion from the pagan influences of Babylon, the captives spawned a new breed of teacher known as Scribes. These characters developed new rules and regulations with which to protect their religion. Later, this new religious system came to be known as Judaism. According to the celebrated Jewish Rabbi Adolph Moses, ‘it was Flavius Josephus, writing for the instructions of Greeks and Romans, who coined the term Judaism...’ (Yahvism, And Other Discourses, p.1)

“The interpretations of law rendered by the Scribes soon began to have a unique legal authority of their own. They soon came to carry more weight than the books of the Old Testament! As a top Jewish authority expresses it, ‘a method of exegesis had to be developed that would permit the interpretation of the Torah (the first five books of the Bible) beyond its literal meaning.’ When the interpretations or vain reasonings of the Scribes were directly contrary to the Law of God, the Scribes ‘attempted whenever possible not to abolish it (the Law), but to introduce some legal fiction whereby the authority of the law was upheld and yet at the same time rendered null and void for all practical purposes’ ” (Universal Jewish Encyclopedia, article on Authority, p.634). “Soon, there emerged another elitist group of individuals who considered themselves ‘above’ the Scribes. These were the Pharisees. Their exclusivist religion became known as Pharisaism. The Pharisees believed that only they had the key to understanding all the information contained in the Hebrew alphabet and the Scriptures. They believed that their most eminent rabbis knew how to decipher the true meanings of Scriptures because they had previously lived in Heaven, and were only now recalling what God had told them. The Talmud relates how Moses ascended to Heaven, and there beheld Rabbi Akiba (still unborn) expounding the Torah in a wondrous manner” (Menachoth 29b).

“Thus when the Pharisee read a verse from Scripture which was contrary to his desires he had contempt for its obvious meaning. That meaning was for the simple-minded and unlearned. Instead, he would ponder the shapes of the letters, notice which letters were next to each other, count up the number of times a letter was repeated, tally the numerical equivalent of letters and words, and so on. After consulting with his fellow rabbis, the Pharisee would then come up with an interpretation which no one would have dreamed existed, but which now squared exactly with what he wanted to believe’ ” (Israel: Our Duty...Our Dilemma, by Ted Pike, pp.16-17).

“During the 400 years preceding the birth of Christ, these new laws and interpretations literally exploded in number. They became more elaborate and complicated as the religious leaders strove mightily to circumvent God’s law in every phase and facet of their lives. They wished to disobey God while retaining the appearance of great Godliness. The Pharisees also became increasingly self-centered and self-righteous and brazenly intolerant of anyone who might question their claim to what amounted to divine rule...The Talmud today occupies the same relative position with respect to those who profess Judaism. The Talmud exercises virtually totalitarian dictatorship over the lives of so-called Jews whether they are aware of it or not. Their spiritual leaders make no attempt to conceal the control they exercise over the lives of so-called Jews. They extend their authority far beyond the legitimate limits of spiritual matters. Their authority has no limit outside religion” (Facts Are Facts, pp. 25,26).

“With all the foregoing facts clearly in mind, we can now begin to understand the true picture of what happened during Jesus’ three and a half years on earth. Throughout the four gospels, the Pharisees are mentioned nearly one hundred times, and for good reason! It is recorded that ‘the common people heard (Christ) gladly’ (Mark 12:37). It is also recorded that practically all of the opposition to Jesus came from, yes, you guessed it, the Pharisees: They hated him with a passion. They despised everything He represented! They opposed Him at every turn. Their all-consuming goal in life was to ‘destroy Jesus’ (Matthew 27:20). Why? Among other things, Jesus had repeatedly revealed them for what they truly were: blind fools (Matthew 23:17); blind guides (v24); hypocrites who were full of iniquity (v28); the children of those who killed the prophets (v31); serpents, a generation of vipers (v33). As such, they couldn’t bear to face the truth about themselves (John 3:19,20). Here we have a tremendous clash of philosophies. It was the truth of God over against the Babylonian religion of Satan. Christ understood the occult philosophy which motivated the Pharisees...the Pharisees saw Christ as a tremendous threat to their power base, and their religious empire building.”

Fellow believers, it is so very clear that Jesus never was opposed to His laws which were spoken from His Word out of His grace for our happiness and eternal life. Jesus was against the laws created by religious men to control His people. The laws of God are forever, but the laws of the Pharisees will fail and are rejected by God Himself. When we twist the truths in the Bible to live the way we want to instead of the way God has told us to, we become as the Pharisees. We twist the Scriptures and do away with its true meaning to have the sinful liberty to live a selfish and rebellious life. Are you a follower of Jesus (God’s Word) or are you a Pharisee who rejects the laws of God for your own ways?

We are not under the letter of Mosaic Laws, but we are still under the spirit of the Mosaic Laws. Where mercy and grace of this law stoned a woman caught in adultery, (think of all the problems adultery brings on society - anger, abuse, hatred, the tearing apart of families, children being raise by single parents, emotional scarring, fighting, murder, street children, alcohol and drug abuse, etc.) under mercy and grace when Jesus fulfilled the law, He said, “Go and sin no more.” Adultery is still a capital offense in Jesus’ kingdom, but there is forgiveness with the emphasis on repentance and sinning no more. Do not be a Pharisee twisting the Word of God to justify your rebellion and selfishness. There are many good pastors, but do not follow those that are Pharisees behind the pulpit; they act like a Pope using actions or wrong teaching to influence people into building their kingdoms instead of building the kingdom of God. The Word of God is the righteous law which none can change. Anger, hatred, homosexuality, adultery, fornication, abortion, lying, cheating, bitterness, gossiping, listening to a complaint against another without going to the accused for their side of the story, etc. is still sin. People today do not want to follow the laws of God. Instead they use the law of the land, which is corrupt, to sue the brother they are angry with rather than forgiving him!

World Ministries International (WMI) is The Church Without Walls.
