On the Mount of Olives, Jesus disciples asked Him, “...what shall be the sign of thy coming, and of the end of the world?” (See Matthew 24:3-42).

In Matthew 24:4-5, 11-14, Jesus gives His disciples some major signs, “...Take heed that no man deceive you. For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many. And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many. And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold. But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved. And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations: and then shall the end come.”

The first warning is that many ministers would come in the name of Jesus, but they do not preach the gospel correctly. They twist it and make it say what they want instead of what God said. This is a major problem in churches today. The ministers justify the sins of their people and the nation. They are preaching another gospel which nullifies the word of God. Instead of bringing correction, protection and blessings to a nation, their messages lead not only their congregation, but the nation further into sin. There are examples of this throughout the scriptures, such as Jeremiah 23:21-27. These faithless ministers fail to point to the apocalyptic weather as God speaking to a nation over its sins. Instead, they act like infidels, pointing the blame as agnostics do, on man’s failure to stop using fossil fuels, which they claim cause carbon emissions and ultimately climate change.

I have mentioned in my previous two articles that God does not protect our nation unless we not only pray, but confess and repent of our sins. Without repentance our problems only escalate.

Jeremiah 14:7, 10-16, “O Lord, though our iniquities testify against us... for our backslidings are many; we have sinned against thee... Thus saith the Lord unto this people, Thus have they loved to wander, they have not refrained their feet, therefore the Lord does not accept them; he will now remember their iniquity, and visit their sins. Then said the Lord unto me, Pray not for this people for their good. When they fast, I will not hear their cry; ...but I will consume them by the sword, and by the famine, and by the pestilence. Then said I, Ah, Lord God! behold the prophets say unto them, Ye shall not see the sword, neither shall ye have famine; but I will give you assured peace in this place. Then the Lord said unto me, The prophets prophesy lies in my name: I sent them not, neither have I commanded them, neither spake unto them: they prophesy unto you a false vision and divination, and a thing of nought, and the deceit of their heart. Therefore thus saith the Lord concerning the prophets that prophesy in my name, and I sent them not, yet they say, Sword and famine shall not be in this land; By sword and famine shall those prophets be consumed. And the people to whom they prophesy shall be cast out in the streets...because of the famine and the sword; and they shall have none to bury them, them, their wives, nor their sons, nor their daughters: for I will pour their wickedness upon them.”

God is clearly telling man, if he continues in deliberate acts of rebellion, as are the sins of abomination, then man should not bother praying unless repentance precedes it. God will not bless or protect us, no matter how much we ask him to, if we don’t repent. Instead, judgment will increase. These scriptures definitely describe America’s pastors today who cherry pick the Bible and only preach a one-sided blessing message. They are failing the church and the nation and their judgment will be worse.

Jesus also warned another major sign of his return is that the gospel will be preached unto all nations before the end and that has already come to pass! The gospel has and is continually being preached throughout the world via television, radio, shortwave and internet.

Matthew 24:6-8 reads, “And ye shall hear of wars and rumors of wars... For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places. And all these are the beginning of sorrows.”

The international scenario is certainly described with the world in total disarray. Iran, North Korea, Russia, Syria and even China are defying international wishes, embargoes and laws, threatening war and even a nuclear exchange. War, coupled with the climate totally out of control, leads to food and water shortages or poisonings, disease, starvation and death. The book of Matthew describes all this and much more. A great tribulation such as the world has never experienced before with persecution and death. Also, read the book of Revelation where two billion people are going to die and focus on chapters 6 and 9.

We find ourselves where Christ warned, “the beginning of sorrows.” In my next article, I will write about scoffers who say, “These things have always been,” but the reality is they have not. Never before in recorded history has the weather been this apocalyptic. Never before have we been capable of destroying the entire world through nuclear war. We certainly could not do it with bows and arrows and knives or even guns. We don’t find ourselves in normal times, but in unique and unpredictable times when sudden destruction/disaster can happen any day. People all over the world are afraid, wondering will there be more unpredictable weather, war, riots, terrorist attacks, national or world economic collapse, deadly diseases, pestilences, drought or famine? Society norms are being turned upside down by world powers bent on controlling the world through destruction of the old world order which held the world together honoring Judeo-Christian values and morality. Now the world is facing epidemic diseases brought on by abortion, homosexuality, fornication, adultery, pervasive lying, cheating and stealing even by politicians and government leaders. So many heresies are now taught in the churches, including the Pope accepting the Muslim God. The current Pope’s stance on homosexuals, atheists, hell and many biblical positions previously held by former Popes has created a chasm and split in the Catholic Church.

Isaiah 3:1 reads, “For behold, the Lord, the Lord of hosts, takes away from Jerusalem and from Judah, the stock and the store, the whole supply of bread and the whole supply of water.”

God is warning us that because of continual sins He will take away our food and our water! Yes, the weather, the soon coming economic crash, chemical, biological and nuclear attacks, etc., are going to usher in severe drought, famine, disease, pestilence and death!

Soon, out of nowhere we will find ourselves in war. Before Jesus returns, the kings of the North are going to attack the kings of the South and defeat the kings of the South. The kings of the North are going to attack the kings of the West and defeat the kings of the West. The kings of the North and the East will eventually collide and what is left of these wars and countless dead will unite and travel to the Megiddo where they will engage Jesus Christ himself who will defend Israel.

Matthew 24:37-39 states, “As in the days of Noah were, so shall also the coming of the son of man be...they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day Noah entered the ark. And knew not until the flood came, and took them all away; so shall the coming of the Son of man be.”
